ICQ is one of the old school services, but is has gone through many updates, and is still used by many. ICQ is often the chat tool of choice for internet companies and individuals who want a fast way to find and communicate with the online businesses that offer ICQ contact information. In April 2010 ICQ was sold by AOL to the Russian “MAil.ru” group. According to Time Warner, ICQ has over 100 million accounts registered.
ICQ – said like “I Seek You” may have been widely downloaded and used by many people, but it’s current usage is unknown. Many in different industries use ICQ for specific contacts and communication, but for the average person ICQ is an old school semi-geeky instant messaging tool. A solid IM client with many options, it’s on oldie and a goodie, it’s just not as popular as many other services. ICQ being bought up by the Russian mail.ru may have it’s use expand more outside the US – although it has been popular world wide already for many years.
